Our totally bespoke service looks after your AD plant

from feasibility to feeding

When you want to develop an AD facility, you need assurances that suitable waste feedstocks are available for your chosen site. We have developed a comprehensive database of UK organic waste producers, and can scrutinise specific geographical and transport networks to advise on logistics and feasibility.  Often, a highly detailed Food Waste Feasibility Study is required in order to support your planning application – so it pays to have our expertise on your side.

For AD plants already up and running, we provide a procurement service that helps to bring the plant a regular, reliable feedstock, paying careful attention to the characteristics of waste types in order to cater to the site’s specific operational requirements.

Feasibility Studies

We carry out feasibility studies that provide the best available overall estimate of the quantity of food & liquid waste from a variety of sectors arising within a 30 – 50 mile radius of the planned build.

Our reports can be crucial in satisfy planning applications and instilling financial confidence to potential investors in planned facilities.

The cost of a feasibility is based on the agreed radius of the plant associated with the number of food waste producers.

Standard Feasibility

  • Number of food manufacturers in the agreed radius
  • Potential food waste arisings from hospitality/schools/smaller food processors
  • Local Authority potential food waste arisings, commingled or separate and current disposal outlet
  • Competing AD Plants operational within the same radius
  • Projected tonnages

Premium Feasibility

  • All standard feasibility features
  • Analysis of food waste arisings from manufacturers
  • Analysis of food waste collection infrastructure
  • Analysis of Local Authorities food waste strategy
  • Financial projections of food waste gate fees

Feedstock Management

Ultimately working with us means you can concentrate on operating your plants and progress future business developments for building and operating new sites

Our bespoke operating system records food waste information throughout the UK

This allows us to schedule loads and record actual tonnage inputs in order to monitor feedstocks and maintain the optimum financial and biological stability for each plant.

Within this operating system we have recorded actual tonnage information with each contract, whether it’s a food manufacturer, waste company or local authority and associated contractual information where known.

It also allows us to produce your Environment Agency reports in real time.

Map of UK

At the beginning of the procurement stage we would agree the target producers and areas of the UK to cover

Then we download the data from the system and get to work.  We have a team of staff each covering a region of the UK who talk to the producers of the waste to secure contracts specifically for each AD plant.  This allows us to build up a picture of feedstock movements on a local level, and because we procure locally, transport costs are sensible.

Working with us means you have no need to employ a sales team, reducing your operating costs.

Food waste Plant

AD plants that work with us receive regular, quality feedstock

That means the right mix of loose packaged & liquid which varies from site to site depending on the technology used/waste acceptance criteria.

We understand how commercial and municipal food waste is presented & how to procure it.

Our contamination levels are kept low because the process is highly policed from the very beginning.  We monitor feedstock loads closely, collecting photographic evidence of any material that is received that does not meet the specification of the input.

The visual evidence is used in a feedback report as part of a constructive educational tool for waste producers.  These reports are welcomed by all parties and seen as a way of improving and sharing best practice.

We pay attention to the Waste Hierarchy

We try not to compete with animal feed, composting or rendering markets.

Under the principle of the waste hierarchy the greatest level of effort should be made when trying to reduce the level of surplus food created in the first place.  Where the creation of surplus food cannot be prevented or reduced, and the material is unsuitable for reuse at food banks, recycling should be prioritised as the next route.

Some foodstuffs can be recovered, reprocessed and converted into high quality ingredients for use in animal feed and this should be the preferred option where available and commercially viable.
